FAQ
Questions we get before every install.
Everything about privacy, heat, warranty, and what fitting day actually looks like.
General
What's the difference between silver mirror, frosted, and coloured film?
Silver mirror gives daytime privacy — from outside it looks reflective, while you can still see out. Frosted is fully opaque, like etched glass, for full privacy day or night. Coloured and shaded films (charcoal, bronze, blue) cut glare and add some shade without a mirrored look, at a range of light-transmission levels.
Do you tint homes, offices, and shopfronts, or just one type of building?
All of the above. We regularly do homes, office glass walls and meeting rooms, skylights, and shopfronts — the film and finish just changes depending on the space and what you're trying to achieve.
Does silver mirror tint give privacy at night too?
Not on its own — mirror film relies on more light outside than in, so at night with interior lights on, the effect reverses. For round-the-clock privacy we'd usually pair mirror film with blinds or recommend frosted film instead.
Installation
How long does a typical installation take?
Most homes are finished in a single day. Offices and shopfronts depend on glass count and access — we'll give you a time estimate at the on-site measure, and can schedule around your business hours if needed.
Do I need to move furniture or clear the room?
Just clear the immediate area in front of each window — blinds up or removed if fitted, and a bit of floor space for the fitter to work. We'll flag anything specific to your space during the site visit.
Can shopfronts be tinted without closing during trading hours?
Yes — this is common for retail. We can schedule installs before opening, after closing, or on a quieter day, and the film itself only takes a few hours to fit per shopfront.
Warranty & care
What's covered under the film warranty?
Our film comes with a 10-year warranty covering bubbling, peeling, and significant discolouration under normal conditions. We'll go through the specifics for your chosen film during the quote.
Does tinting void my window or double-glazing warranty?
This depends on your glass manufacturer. Most modern double glazing is compatible with quality film, but we always recommend checking your glazing warranty terms first — we're happy to advise based on your window brand if you're unsure.
How do I clean tinted windows without damaging the film?
Use a soft cloth or squeegee with a mild soap-and-water solution, and avoid ammonia-based glass cleaners, which can break down the film adhesive over time. We'll leave care instructions after fitting.
Booking & pricing
Is the on-site measure free?
Yes — the initial visit to measure your glass and talk through tint options is free and comes with no obligation to book the work.
How far in advance should I book?
On-site visits are usually booked within a week of enquiry, and fitting is scheduled shortly after your quote is confirmed. Shopfronts needing after-hours slots may need a little more lead time.
